Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. - Proverbs 11:2 As look back over the years of raising kids, I remember fondly the wonderful times we shared. I cannot believe how fast it has gone by, and often yearn for those glory days of old. One of my favorite memories of our first child was how she longed for our approval and watchful eye on whatever she was doing. To ensure our undivided attention, our daughter would ask, "are you camera-ing me?" She so wanted to be the center of our attention, and so often she was!
Flash forward to the present and our grandparent years and our daughter often has a different saying which we hear quite often. She and her sweet babies will come bounding in the house in a whirlwind and almost instantaneously the grand babies get our undivided attention, to which our daughter will say, "I'm here to Dad!" You see, our daughter is now having to share the limelight and it has taken her some time to adjust. Which leads me to the point of my story today - we all have to adjust to the truth that life is not about us! Even though our families may have helped us to believe contrary to the truth, we must not attempt to try to capture the attention of those around us. Let us choose to live with God being the center of everything and spend our energy on making more of Him and less of us. This is truly wisdom! |
